But the professionals also send data via the grid. Energy meters, for example, are thus read remotely and the new requirements for the “smart grid” demand more and more information about the network, which is also sent via the “power lines”. New energy sources (wind, solar …) make it more demanding to keep the grid stable. This requires much more undelayed data than before. Therefore it is always important that the grid remains “clean” and the data can flow undisturbed.

Unfortunately, there are more and more interfering signals on the network. These can be caused by non-conforming or damaged power supply units, motors, dimmers, power electronic components such as inverters or other devices that can affect data transmission over long distances.

Electricity utilities (EW) depend on data transmission running as smoothly as possible and therefore they invest a great deal of commitment in the quality of their grid areas. The HF sensor -1 – as a supplement to a power analyser – has proven very useful for detecting interference signals on the power grid. The sensor can detect the interfering signals wirelessly. It can be held along lines and immediately indicates where the interference is getting stronger or weaker.

If two audio signals with a difference of more than 200ms hit the human ear, not only the hearing comfort but also the listener’s hearing will decrease massively.
