Questions & Answers

Does my cable network send “DAB+ Cable”?

This is an important question because the adapter will not provide any benefit without this transmission. Go to https://www.suissedigital.ch/suissedigital/plz-finder/ and enter your home address. Here you will find information about your cable network operator. If this is upc (or one of the partner networks), you should be able to receive DAB+cable. If you are unsure, please ask your cable network operator whether he has connected DAB+cable.

Can I receive FM programs with the SumaDAB+ Cable Adapter?

The adapter is designed for DAB+cable only. UPC plans to increase the number of programs on DAB+cable to such an extent that all programs sent today on FM (plus many additional programs) can also be received on DAB+cable. This means that FM reception will soon not be required if you already have DAB+.

How much does it cost to receive DAB+ Cable?

DAB+ Cable is included in the basic price of your cable subscription. No additional subscription is required and there are no additional costs (except the one-time purchase of a SumaDAB+ Cable Adapter).

High quality – What is the difference to consumer products?

Our products are optimized for a very long life.

Planned obsolescence* is out of the question for us

Our products are developed and built in Switzerland. We pay a lot of attention to the quality and longevity of our sumaDAB devices. This begins with the design of the electronic circuit, the conscientious selection and control of the installed components, as well as the careful manufacture of the devices. The Swiss assembly company working for us also manufactures high-quality and durable products for other well-known national and international companies (e.g. for passenger transport, devices for installation in houses / apartments, medical technology, industry, banks, etc.). Our products are designed for a service life of over 10 years. These devices are produced to the highest quality standards. Every single device has been tested.
In spite of the somewhat higher purchase price, such high-quality products are cheaper when calculated over a longer period of time, because a cheap product has to be replaced 2-3 times for the same service life. Besides such high-quality products are clearly more environment-friendly, because unnecessary electrical scrap and the associated resource waste are avoided.
Therefore our products cannot be compared with cheap goods from Asia.

*Planned obsolescence is a strategy of manufacturers of various consumer products in which the obsolescence or premature defect of their products is planned and conceptually planned. Many manufacturers want to sell their customers a new product every few years and therefore build their products in such a way that they only work for a few years (but usually at least as long as the warranty lasts). On the one hand, there is technological obsolescence when, for example, an earlier PC can no longer be used for newer software due to the performance of its processor, even though the PC is not yet defective.
On the other hand, there are products that are probably “deliberately” or “accidentally” designed to fail prematurely. This can be due to a too weak attachment of a key or an electronic component in the vicinity of a heat source, which fails earlier, so that the whole device can no longer be used.
Products which are manufactured in industrial quality (instead of consumer quality) are usually much more expensive, but do not know any planned obsolescence and often last several times longer, which is good for the environment and your wallet.
